During the blepharoplasty surgery, the lower eyelids must be evaluated together with the cheek, and the upper eyelid must be evaluated together with the eyebrow. On the lower eyelid, the fatty deposits will be preferably slid under the cheek. If there is no excessive skin, it is better to enter from the internal part of the eyelid. The eyelid surgeries give a lively look to the eyes; improves the sad, angry or tired expression on the face and together with the rejuvenated appearance it increases the self competence.

The blepharoplasty (eyelid aesthetic) surgeries are operations intended to correct that kind of complaints. The results will be much better if the blepharoplasty surgeries will be performed together with the brow lifting, eyebrow lifting and temporal lifting operations for the cases if there are wrinkles on the brow and droopiness on the eyebrow; and together with the mid-face lifting operation for the cases if there is droopiness on the cheeks.  During the examination, as their positions and anatomical structure are different then each other, the upper and lower eyelids should separately evaluated.

The surgery will be performed through an incision within the natural crease of the upper eyelid, and through an incision just below the lower lash line of the lower eyelid, and no visible scars will be left. For the lower eyelids, excess sagged skin will be removed and the positions of the buckled fat bags under the eyes will be changed. The approaches to fat bags will be in four different phases; Fat Resection: Will be rarely applied to the patient with overweight. When the fat bags will be removed the eyeball will go backwards and even the eyelids have no wrinkles, an elderly and bowl shaped look will be formed.

The reparation of the pellicle in front of the fat bags (Orbital Septum Pilication): The ruptured fat bags will be moved in their original places. Orbital Septum will be performed on the young and strong patients. Sliding the fat bags under the cheek tissue (Subperiostal Fat Redistribution): If softens the eyelid’s passage to the cheek, erases the bone contour and make contributions to the cheek volume. It will be applied on most of the cases. Approaching from the inner side of the eyelid (Transconjuctival Approach): Removing or disintegrating the fat from the eyelid of the patients who have no excessive skin, but fat bags.

Surgery Process

Most of the blepharoplasty surgeries will be performed with intravenous sedation or if there is an additional procedure, under general anesthesia. Each lid will be corrected in 30-40 minutes. You will have only thin bandages over the eyelids.

Healing Process

• You can go home at the same day after the blepharoplasty operation.
• There will be no pain.
• The swellings and bruises will be lessened in five to seven days.
• Your stitches will be removed in a period between two days and one week.
• After removing the stitches your swelling will be healed quickly and there will be no problem to start working.
• The final result will be gained between three and six months.
